Go Right

I gulped and turned to go right, further into the woods, praying it was the right way.

My gun hand shook as I snuck deeper in the trees, keeping my ears open for any sign of walkers around. I glanced up; the moon above barely shined through the thickness of the trees and I couldn’t spot any stars. I shifted my attention back to where I was headed. The more I walked, the more I felt as if I was going in circles. Had I already passed this tree? That stone looked familiar. I could’ve sworn I had already seen that log…

My heart rate sped up faster and faster, and I began to run; scared of the darkness that surrounded me. I heard cracks and crunches of leaves and twigs behind me and out of instinct I yelped. I turned around and saw two walkers chasing me. I ran as fast as I could in between the trees and around logs. When I turned back to see if they were still after me I caught a glimpse of one but couldn’t find the other.

I hid behind a large tree listening for the footsteps to draw nearer. It seemed to have slowed to a walk, and was listening for me too. I deliberately kicked a stone and it went flying in between the trees and passed the walker. I saw it turn its decayed head to where it had heard the noise and watched it as it veered off, trying to find what had made it.

But I wasn’t safe, not at all. The moans and growls coming from where Shane was were now getting clearer. They sounded as if they were coming from every direction. I whimpered, knowing this was the end of me, when I heard a noise that made my heart jump with relief. Gunshots; and not too far away either.

They kept firing and from what I could tell, it sounded as if they were coming from where I had lured the walker off to. So I picked up another sharp rock and held it by my side, careful not to use my gun to attract any more walkers.

I snuck through the dark woods, gripping the rock in my hand so tight I felt blood trickling down my fingers. So far, not a single walker had noticed me. After a couple of minutes I heard engines roaring, and the moaning was louder than ever. Then, through the trunks of the trees, I saw a bright, orange, flickering light. I moved towards it, my curiosity getting the best of me. When I got through the clearing, I was on a hill and could see the entire house below. The orange light had been coming from the barn, which was on fire.

I glanced down and saw our cars and Daryl’s motorcycle driving away. Oh thank God they’re safe was my first thought, until I realized that they were driving away!

“Oh no!!! Wait! Hold on!” I ran down the hill, waving my arms above my head, sprinkling blood from the rock into my hair. But they didn’t see me. They were too determined to leave the house to notice me. And I was too determined to get their attention to notice the walkers that had surrounded me.

Panic set in as I turned to run back into the woods, but it was too late. They had all seen me and were coming towards me with outstretched arms. I didn’t wanna go this way; not after all I’d been through. So I threw the stone at one of the walkers, closed my eyes, and held Shane’s gun up to my head.

BAM!!!!

Thank you so much for reading my Walking Dead Choose Your Own Adventure story! I hope you were happy with the choices you made, and if you’re not then feel free to go back and make some changes! There are 12 endings in all but only one path to get to the “To Be Continued…” ;)
