“No, there is absolutely no way we’re going to do that!”
“It’s too dangerous, we don’t even have the ammunition!”
“Do you even remember last night? Look around you!”
“Look what happened to Otis… we can’t have that happen again.”
Voices circled above my head and I sat up from my chair. Looking around I saw everyone gathered in a circle. The four voices I heard had come from T-Dog, Andrea, Maggie, and Patricia.
“Wha-?” I started to say but as soon as I opened my mouth, my head exploded with pain. All the shouting, all the tension, all the hard work hauling the walkers outside… it’d been too much.
I sat there in agony as the voices continued to rage. Back and forth and back and forth, nobody seemed to be able to come to a decision. I wish I knew what they were trying to decide so that I could at least try to participate.
“Listen, I’ll do it okay? I’ll find where it came from.” Daryl said with a surprisingly calm tone.
“Are you serious?!” Three people burst out loud at the same time.
“Daryl, c’mon… you wanna go towards the thing that drew the walkers away?! You wanna go towards the EXPLOSION?!” Carol sounded like she was going to explode herself.
So that’s what they were arguing about. I thought a bit about what Daryl had said. To me, it sounded alright. I wasn’t afraid of death. Not anymore. Remembering Shane and that he wasn’t here to help make a decision, I knew what I had to say. It was what he would’ve said.
“I’ll do it…” I muttered, but no one heard me. I gulped and prepared for my brain to pop as I shouted, “I’LL DO IT!!!”
Everyone shut up. They stared at me, surprised at my outburst.
“I’m curious at what it was, and maybe we could find supplies or survivors there.” I continued, holding my pounding head in my hand.
“Survivors? Supplies? After an explosion? Did you hit your head? You really think you’ll find anything?” T-Dog snapped at me.
“No, I’m not sure we’ll find anything at all. I just wanna know where it came from.” I glanced at Daryl who was by my side. He grinned.
“If you go, then…” Andrea took a deep breath, “Then I’ll go with.”
Now that surprised me. I sat there without saying a word until Daryl spoke up.
“Well so am I.”
“I’ll go too. Maybe I can find something to help Lori and—” Rick stared at his wife on the couch, “Maybe she’ll be awake when we get back.”
“You think that’s a good idea?” Carol asked with as much kindness in her voice as she could muster up, “You wanna leave her here? What if something happens?”
“Nothing will happen.” Rick said, but without any confidence in his voice.
“Alright then. I’ll go get ready” Daryl left the room.
“Meet you outside.” Rick said.
“I should get ready too.” Andrea followed Daryl out.
I stood up and found that I really needed to talk to someone. It was time to have a serious conversation with…
Daryl Dixon(Recommended if you want Lin to have a relationship with him)
Andrea(Recommended if you want Lin to have a friendship with her)
Rick Grimes(Recommended if you want to know more about Shane)
